A pitch raise is when the pitch of the piano is raised substantially during a tuning, requiring multiple passes to bring the piano to the standardized pitch of A440. This can be much more time consuming than a typical tuning.

If your piano has not been tuned in 2+ years, a pitch raise will likely be necessary.
